Revolutionary Bites: Bite-Size Tales from Science, Industry and Politics is a set of 60 short stories intended to introduce young readers to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), management and finance topics in an engaging way. It is a collection of stories, each a 2-3 minute read, each offering unique insights and inspiration. They evolved from my fascination with the machinery of progress, discovery and innovation. They are modern parables of innovation and industry, each its own little lesson about why and how progress comes about. They are tales of visionaries who believed in solving problems and creating a better world. It’s not just about having the biggest bank account or the most prestigious title. These stories show us that the real magic happens when we use technology and new ideas for the greater good. You will meet captivating characters along the way – inventors, heroes to some, villains to others – who changed the game. Business leaders who believed in more than just profits, and pioneers in industries you might not even have heard of. These aren’t dry, historical accounts; think of them more as chats over coffee with someone who is fascinated with both the brilliance and the folly of man. Each story highlights how understanding the world as it truly is – not just as we’re told it should be – leads to remarkable discoveries and achievements. Whether you are looking for a little motivation, a spark of creativity, or just a good story, you will find something here that resonates with you.

With this book, I am hoping to engage teenage readers, just as I was fascinated by such books when I was growing up. To capture young minds, you need a bit of “sex, drugs and rock’n’roll” but in family-friendly form (sorry, no NSFW content). I originally envisioned this as a children’s book for adults, using slightly larger print and vivid, fanciful, hallucinatory illustrations leading each of the 60 stories. But then I found that according to a January 2023 WordsRated statistics, 51% of young adult (YA) books are purchased by people between the ages of 30 and 44, and 78% of those buyers said that they intended to read the books themselves. In recent years, librarians report that more middle grade readers (traditionally eight- to 12-year-olds) are “reading up” to YA books.
